Brass Monkey Weather

I didn't want to get up this morning as I was nice and snug in my bed, especially now as I have my central heating sorted.

This time last week I was without heating after recently having a new boiler fitted. The heating went kaput and all because I had a "kinky pipe"!

Anyway back to today. I have come to the conclusion that college is not for me. I think I am too old for all this learning malarkey. I am too set in my ways now and everyone and everything seem to irritate me.

Getting into college is such a hassle. Parking places are in short supply and its on a first come first served basis. This can cost me from £3.20 to £4.50 per day depending which car park I manage to get into. I usually leave around 11:30 hours to ensure that I get a parking spot. Then I have to wait until 13:30 before the lesson starts.

The afternoon sessions are not getting any better. In fact I think they are deteriorating rapidly. A good 90% of the class are teenagers, and they haven't got the slightest intention of sitting in a classroom and being expected to work for 3 hours.

I can't believe that the tutor still hasn't learnt yet after all these weeks, that if you send the class out for a break, half of the students will not return (and he doesn't seem to notice).

I am still trying to fathom out what today's lesson was all about and what connection it has to do with accountancy - maybe I am missing something here. I will let you decide for yourselves.

Here goes - We had a group exercise where we were all dealt 2 cards each. Each card had something written on it. We were not allowed to show anyone our cards but we were allowed to say what was written on them !!! Hmm!

Next we had to take it in turns to read our cards out (remember we are not allowed to show what is written on them) and a volunteer had to write what we had said on the white-board. Are you still with me?

Now - you might think at this stage it may have something to do with figures or something connected to accountancy, but in actual fact you would be wrong.

The cards portrayed some story or other about a poor chap called Jamil who had broken into a flat, got shot in the leg and stabbed in the back. His body was then dragged into the park and left there for someone to find. He had been murdered.

It turned out it was a bit of a murder mystery - but I am still struggling to make the connection - IS IT ME!

After all the excitement of this afternoon I couldn't bare the thought of staying in the town so I went home to chill.

Evening Session

After getting over this afternoons murder, I was ready to tax the brain a little. You can always guarantee that you are going to work hard in this lesson. The tutor has just been awarded employee of the year at the college and she truly deserves it. Her teaching methods are second to none and I think most people would feel that they have achieved something from her class.

Tonight we worked on the following:
Revision of cheques/credit cards. Revision of cash receipts book. Questions.

We are now preparing for our exam which will take place on December 10th and 17th.

Hi Student Granny all I would say is that I do sympathise, as there is nothing worse than having a kinky old boiler that doesn't do it for you any more. I hope that your new model works.
